It's been a while since I've written anything on here. Technically, I was never really planning on using this blog until June when Brent and I move, so I guess it's ok. But since I'm no longer using The Lady Butler and I rarely use Proverbs Thirty-Wannabe, I figure I should be focusing my blogging energy somewhere! And honestly, this is where I want to focus it for now. So...here I am. Focusing.
Let's see, what's new.
Brent and I filed taxes on Sunday. I was pretty set on using the tried and true services of H&R Block, but my mother-in-law, Lisa, finally convinced me to use Turbo Tax. (Which, by the way, I loved!) Let's just say it's great being married and filing jointly! Brent and I will be able to pay a bit of our Bible school tuition and pay off all of our bills. ALL of them. I don't mean for that to sound braggy, but seriously...it's a great feeling knowing that when we move, beside typical life bills such as phone, rent, and power, the only bill-bill we'll have is a small monthly payment on Brent's school loan. Peace of mind indeed! Plus, it's taught me to not max out store credit cards. Or to use credit cards wisely. Or...you know...to not have credit cards at all. But nevertheless, they'll all be paid off in about a week! Praise Jesus!
In other news, Brent and I have decided that when we move to Tulsa, he's going to work and I'm just going to be a full-time student. Rhema Bible Training Center (RBTC) is set up where classes are held Monday-Friday from 8am-12pm, which leaves room open for students who are doing other things, such as work or school. Northeastern State University (NSU) is in Broken Arrow (which is a suberb of Tulsa and is technically where our new apartment and RBTC are located) and it has an English degree! The best part is that the classes at NSU - at least the ones I need - are offered in the afternoon and evenings, so it works perfectly with my RBTC schedule.
Brent's excited to be working and I'm excited to finally not have to work! If you know me well, you know that I strongly dislike having to work a job. It's not because I'm lazy, it's just that I like to write - it's what I do! Writing is hard work, and I like to have time to write. Right now, it might not pay well, but I can't get any writing done if I'm stuck at a job. And how is my writing ever supposed to make any money if it's not getting done? (Haha!)
But seriously...I'm excited to not only not have to work, but also to be finishing my degree and studying the two things I love to love: Jesus and writing. Plus, it may sound archaic to some, but I love traditional roles of men and women, and am so blessed to be with a man who both appreciates and encourages them.
So that's that. I applied for my FAFSA today (another reason it's great to be married filing jointly!) and NSU has my application; they're just waiting on my transcripts. I only have 19 more weeks of work, and we have 20 weeks before we move - it's so crazy!
More news coming soon! (And hopefully it'll be more exciting than me telling you about filing our taxes! ;)
